I was born in Vancouver, WA, grew up in Yakima, WA, attended Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA, student taught in Cashmere, WA and then landed in the Wenatchee area. I met my husband, Adam, here in Wenatchee and we were married in 2005.
This is my 10th year at Foothills Middle School but my 23rd year in the Wenatchee School District. For the first 13 years I was the General Music and Strings Specialist at Mission View Elementary School. I enjoyed my time at the elementary level but I knew I was ready for a change. I love teaching middle school students!
Adam and I are both computer-geeks. I used to be the Technical Resource Teacher and Webmaster at Mission View and he is Wenatchee School District's IT Systems Administrator.
We love movies, computer-gaming, motorcycling, weight-lifting, hiking, biking, camping, kayaking and, of course, music!
My main instruments are the clarinet/saxophone families and voice but I have learned to play 20+ instruments. Most were a college requirement, but some I learned just for fun! I will not pretend that I'm proficient in all of them, but I can get by, performance-wise, on many of them.
My advice to you is, find the instrument that "just fits" (voice included). I believe there's a perfect instrument for everyone and when you find it, you won't want to put it down!

I am from Connecticut where I received a B.S. Music Education and a B.A. Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut. After graduating, I developed a strong interest in early music, and formed The Jovial Beggars with a group of friends. We played at Renaissance Faires throughout New England and in 2001 we recorded an album titled “Christmas on a Budget”. I continued to study the Baroque Violin and have performed early music with Arcadia Players, The Fanfare Consort, and The Mostly Baroque Players, and more recently, with Musica Antiqua at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA.
I also like to play the Irish fiddle, and, after winning third place in the Connecticut Audubon Fiddle Festival in 2003, joined the group The Other Irish Band, and recorded “Be Good or Be Gone!” in 2005. Since moving here to the Wenatchee Valley, I started up a duo called “Kurio" with Forrest Crain. Together, they play folk music from Ireland, England, France, Scandinavia, and America. You can find videos and recordings of us on Youtube and Soundcloud!
Teaching orchestra and mariachi is so much fun, and I hope that you have a great year in my class! We'll be exploring new techniques and playing some exciting music.
