Keep a journal.
Staple pages together and write a story.
Write a letter to a family member or friend. Surprise the person by leaving it in a special place or mailing it.
Use sidewalk chalk to practice writing letters and numbers.
Build a fort and fill it with books and a flashlight.
Go on a nature walk in your neighborhood or google local trails.
Make a science journal. Use pictures, labels and sentences to record your observations.
Write numbers 1-20 on index cards. Have someone hide the cards around the house. Try to find all of the cards and put them in order.
Go on a 2-D shape hunt in your house. How many circles/squares/rectangles/triangles/trapezoids/hexagons can you find?
Go on a 3-D shape hunt in your house. How many cylinders/cubes/spheres/cones can you find?
Count in many different ways. Can you count by ones to 100? Can you count by tens to 100? Can you count backwards from 13? Can you count in other ways?
Collect 100 things (ex. pennies, little toy figures, etc.). Have someone hide the items around the house. Can you find all of them? Try to organize the items in 10 groups of 10 to double check.
Create inventions and art with recycled materials.
Go on a nature walk. Ask your child to use his/her senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell) to make observations.
