LIBRARY OVERDUE NOTICES
WEAR/BRING BOOTS/SNOW PANTS
Read the amount you and your partner decided on today.
REMEMBER THE NON-NEGOTIABLES THAT WE WENT OVER FOR READING RESPONSES!
In the HW section of your Reader's Notebook:
USE YOUR PARTNER READING BOOK!!!! Record the date, title, and pages that you read - THE PAGE YOU BEGIN ON AND THE PAGE YOU END ON!
STOP & JOT FOCUS:
Jot down an idea/observation (your own debatable, unique idea about your book). Remember, this is YOUR insightful, meaningful idea about what you read.
You must then use textual evidence to support your thinking, including a transition. THIS MUST BE A DIRECT QUOTATION!
You must then explain how your evidence supports your debatable, unique idea. This must also include a transition.
Your response must be at least 4 DETAILED sentences (the textual evidence you use only counts as one sentence)
USE THE “TRANSITIONAL PHRASES LITERARY ESSAYISTS USE” handout in your HW Folder.

Make sure to REREAD your response when you are done. Have you used complete sentences? Did you spell as many words as you could correctly (and used available resources to help you)? Does your response make sense? Is it clear who you were writing about (i.e. you used the characters' names)?
Make sure you bring your independent book to and from school!
