Dear Second Grade Friend,
Welcome to second grade! We hope that you are enjoying your summer and are getting ready for a great school year. Second grade is a year full of learning and fun activities. In Science we will study, or learn about, habitats and how water and wind shape the land. In Social Studies we will learn what our world looks like, or its geography, and talk about important people and events that will have a place on our classroom timeline. We will continue to read “just right” books, learn to spell new words, write new stories, and play new math games. It certainly will be a busy year for us!
We are sure that many of you will recognize us from last year and that many of your faces will be familiar to us too. We are having wonderful summers reading books, eating ice cream, going to the beach, playing baseball, listening to music and going on family vacations.
As we are sure you are very busy this summer, we have only a few school items for you to bring with you on the first day of school: a box of 24 short Crayola Twistable crayons (no silly scents, neon or fun effects colors), a box of tissues, a container of Clorox wipes (lemon or fresh scent), a roll of paper towels and a sturdy 2-pocket home/school folder with your name on it.
Please ask your parents to e-mail your classroom teacher so that we can create a class data base. We hope that you have read lots of good books this summer and are excited for the start of school. We will see you very soon!
Love,
Ms. Rogers
