The School District of West De Pere uses the Response to Intervention Model or Continuum (RtI). The continuum represents all students. The right side of the continuum represents high achieving students who require increased levels of challenge, and the left side of the continuum represents students who need further support and interventions to master grade-level curriculum. The center represents the approximately 80% of students whose needs can be met through regular content and methods.
Tier 2 on the right side of the continuum represents approximately 7-10% of students. These students need extended differentiation to provide more challenging content. This differentiation can take place inside or outside the classroom in small group enrichment, independent studies, online classes, accelerated courses, or Advanced Placement options (AP).
Tier 3 of the continuum represents about 1-2% of students who need specialized services such as subject or grade acceleration, mentorships, and/or independent studies. A Differentiated Education Plan (DEP) may be written for these students.
* While this continuum model presents what seems to be a static identification of students, West De Pere’s intentions are to provide fluid identification to best meet the needs of students throughout the year.
