Our Mission:
The mission of the Warrensburg CSD Library is to create a student-centered library media center which provides a safe, nurturing environment in which students can successfully seek information and ideas for their educational, informational, and recreational needs. In collaboration with classroom teachers, library classes incorporate New York State Learning Standards, Empire State Information Fluency Continuum Priority Skills, the AASL National School Library Standards and ISTE Standards for Students to create meaningful and rewarding experiences for all students.
The Library Schedule:
The Warrensburg Elementary Library works with a flexible schedule. A flexible schedule is defined as open access to the library media center throughout the school day, rather than only during a scheduled library time. This flexibility allows for teachers to schedule their classes in the library as needed for appropriate lengths of time to suit the learning activity planned. The Elementary Library encourages students to come to the library frequently for book exchange and research and technology needs.
Library hours:
8:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m.
Book Care Rules:
Use a bookmark to save your place; don’t bend the pages of a book;
Return books when they are due so other students can enjoy them;
Keep books in a safe place at home, away from younger siblings or pets that might unintentionally damage books;
Do not eat or drink near a library book. Your book can get damaged, especially if you have sticky hands;
Protect your books when the weather is bad by placing your books in a plastic bag.
Borrowing Materials:
Students in grades K-6 may borrow materials for two weeks. Items may be renewed in the library for additional borrowing time, but the student must bring the book to the library for renewal. We encourage parents and guardians to use the library web page, go to the online catalog, click “Opals Home” and log in under “My File” with the student’s id number to keep track of books their children have borrowed, check out Ebooks and request books.
Kindergarten is allowed 1 book.
1st grade is allowed 1 book.
2nd grade is allowed 2 books.
3rd grade is allowed 3 books.
4th grade is allowed 4 books.

Overdue/Lost Book Policy:
There are no fines for overdue books. If a book is overdue, we will let students in grades K-6 save a book in the library and pick it up the next day when he or she returns their late books. When a book is late, a notice will go home to the parent or guardian informing them of the late books.
Students are responsible for the replacement of damaged or lost books. Library loaning privileges may be suspended until the lost or damaged book bill is paid.
