Hello Elementary Healthful Living Teachers,
Thank you for your patience as we put pieces in place for this year’s First in Fitness event. Per the responses to the survey sent in December, we will move forward with plans to host the full event at Southeast Raleigh High School.
As we have in done in past years, all forms will be submitted electronically. At the bottom of this page, you will find a link that will take you to the commitment form. In order to maintain an organized event, deadlines for completing and submitting documents will need to be met. Commitment forms submitted after 5pm on January 18th, 2022 will not be accepted.
In addition to the school commitment sheet, there is also an electronic student participant form link at the bottom of this email. All student participants must be submitted using this form by March 1st, 2022.
The First in Fitness Events will take place on WEDNESDAY, March 9th for the Northern Area and THURSDAY, March 10th for the Southern Area. Rain Dates will be March 15th (Northern) and 16th (Southern). Please keep in mind that you will need to have transportation prepared in the event of a rain-out resulting in use of the rain date.
IMPORTANT – There are only 2 available dates available to run each FIF event and only 1 venue large enough to accommodate the capacity of this event. Southeast Raleigh High School is the only large venue in our district on a modified calendar. The FIF event is scheduled during Southeast’s 2 week track out, when students are not on campus. In the event that snow make up days or inclement weather occurs, there is no other WCPSS venue that can accommodate this event. Your school will have the opportunity to participate in smaller, regional events in the instance that your event is not able to be held on the scheduled date or the rain date. Please communicate this window clearly to students and parents.
Responsibilities: Due to the large number of schools and students involved in the FIF events, all participating elementary physical education teachers must be 100% involved in the entire process. This includes the online meeting prior to FIF (mid February), set-up day (Tuesday, March 8), and active participation throughout the FIF event. Your school’s commitment to this event includes your commitment to help set up on Tuesday, March 8th. Your attendance is expected unless you explicitly communicate your inability to attend via email to Brian Glendenning. Non-attendance for set up without communication may result in your school being removed from participation in future First in Fitness Events. In addition, all physical education specialists should be demonstrating the highest level of sportsmanship throughout the event.
By completing the commitment form linked below, you agree to the above responsibilities and understand that failure to comply with these guidelines may forfeit your school’s privilege to participate in First In Fitness.
