Classroom Teachers
The classroom staff work toghether as a team. There are three teachers Amanda Hummel, Nancy Goudey, and Courtney Duarte. We all work together as a team to meet all the children's individual needs.
Mrs. Amanda Hummel is starting her twenty year in the pre-k class at Hilburn. Amanda graduated from Meredith College receiving her Birth through Kindergarten license and a degree in Child Development. She has a love for children from birth to five with special needs. She enjoys finding their strengths and interests to help them grow and develop to their full potential. In addition, Amanda is originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This past summer Amanda enjoyed traveling to beach to see family. She also enjoyed being at home with her kids this summer. We enjoyed swim team, swim meets, going to pool, spending time with family and friends, vacation bible school and just being at home. She has a 12 year old boy named Alexander who starts 7th grade this year, 10 year old Robert who starts 5th grade, Davis is 8 years old starting 3rd grade, and Mary-Rane 5 year old starting kindergarten. She and her husband Andy, enjoy spending time with their children.
Ms. Nancy Goudey is going into her 19th year here at Hilburn in our classroom. She comes from a very big family, who all live close to each other and has 3 grown kids of her own that live here in Raleigh. Ms. Nancy has a granddaughter that will be three in February and she is the light of her life. Reading, riding on her friend's motorcycle, and going on adventures are some things she loves to do outside of work. Ms. Nancy loves working in our classroom with our team and all of the kids. She loves doing art projects and being creative with tasks and materials to help each individual child. Ms. Nancy brings a wealth of experience to our classroom along with so much fun and laughter.
Ms. Courtney Duarte is going into her 12th year here at Hilburn in our classroom. She is married and has three little girls that are newborn baby, 4 year old and 6 years old. The baby was born in July so she will be on maternity leave until July. Charolette-Grace is in kindergarten and Faith is in 1st grade. Event planning/Creating, being with friends and family, and baking are some things she likes to do outside of work. Ms. Courtney loves working in our classroom with our team and all of the kids. She loves helping each individual child grow and learn at their own pace and giving them fun experiences in the classroom. Ms. Courtney brings a wealth of experience to our classroom along with organization and new ideas.
