Second Grade

INTRODUCTION:

Congratulations Junior Curators! You have been selected by Mr. Tee Rex as a possible caretaker of the dinosaur collection at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History while he is away with other paleontologists on a dinosaur dig! Have you ever been to the Natural History Museum? It's an awesome place. In fact, let's take a little tour now, so that we're familiar with the place we could be working!

Before Mr. Rex hands over the keys, though, he needs to be sure you're ready to become an expert on all things dinosaur. There are a series of tasks he's left to ensure you are ready for the job. Are you up for it? I hope so! Let's get started!

There are LOTS of dinosaur fossils at the museum. You'll need to become an expert about one particular dinosaur, so that you can tell the visitors to the museum all about it. Here's a list. Remember, there's more to a museum than just a T Rex!

THE TASK:

Your job is to become an expert on one particular dinosaur by using lots of resources, including online as well as text-based information (nonfiction books, encyclopedias, etc). Once you've become an expert and completed the graphic organizer filled with facts, you'll be ready to contribute to ONE slide on our classroom dinosaur exhibit and, hopefully prove to Mr. Tee Rex that you're ready to become a Junior Curator at the museum with all of your new dinosaur knowledge!

THE PROCESS:

Click on the links below to find out facts about your dinosaur. Go to as many of the sites as it takes to answer ALL of the questions in your graphic organizer. You'll need every answer in order to complete the PowerPoint slide for Mr. Rex.
