Virtual Learning Day FAQ

Wayne City CUSD #100 Virtual Learning FAQ

1. Q- When will assignments be posted in Google Classroom?

A-By 9:00 on the morning of the emergency day.

2. Q- Are teachers accessible at all times during the day via electronic means?

A-No - teachers are encouraged check their normal communication avenues periodically between 9a.m. and 2p.m. and respond to student inquiries in a timely manner.

3. Q-What happens if students lose power for an extended period of time during the emergency day?

A-In this event, they will have 5 school days to make up the required learning activities for attendance purposes.

4. Q-What if a student does not complete all of the learning activities for attendance purposes?

A-This will be the same as if they were in school and did not complete all of their work. The work that the student actually did will count, and they will be marked fully present. This is not meant to be punitive.

5. Q-What if a student does no work on the actual emergency day, but does their work during the 5 school day grace period?

A-Then, the student will receive full credit for the work and be marked as present.

6. Q-What if I do not have power or my Wi-Fi is down on the emergency day?

A-Please communicate this with your teacher as early as possible, which may be when your child returns to school.

-Please remember that students have 5 school days to make up activities.

7. Q-How are my teachers planning their lessons?

A-They understand that all students work at different rates. Teachers are trying to plan for students’ different abilities and be conservative in their estimates...it will not be an exact science.

8. Q-How will students and parents be notified of a Virtual Learning Day?

A- Families will be notified of Virtual Learning Days just as they are notified of school

closings via School Messenger and local TV/radio stations.

9. Q-What if my child has an IEP or 504 plan?

A-Teachers will be available during the day to provide additional assistance to students. The occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other related services providers operate as consultants when the teachers put together the modules for students who receive related services. If the student does not have access to the related service over multiple days, it may be necessary for the District to provide services at an alternate time upon return to school.
