James B. Vaughn is the Director of Vocal Music at Wauseon Middle and High Schools. Previous to his appointment at Wauseon, Mr. Vaughn was the Director of Vocal Music at Van Buren Local Schools. During his tenure there, Mr. Vaughn was director of the Sixth Grade Choir, Middle School Choir, the Mixed Chorus, Men's and Women's Choruses, and the Varsity Choir, as well as The Association, the auditioned show choir. Choirs under his direction have consistently received Superior ratings at both OMEA District and State Large Group Adjudicated Events over his seventeen years at Van Buren, amassing a total of 23 OMEA State Superior ratings.
Mr. Vaughn serves as the Vocal Advisor Chair of the OMEA Adjudicated Events Committee and previously served as a staff member of The Cardinal Chorale before becoming a foster and adoptive parent with his wife, Beth Vaughn, who is the Director of Vocal Music at Bowling Green City Schools. He has also served as Informational Technologies Coordinator for the Ohio Choral Directors Association and President of OMEA District 3. Mr. Vaughn is currently registered and certified as an OMEA Adjudicator for vocal events.
Under his direction over the past eight years, the Wauseon Choirs have been back to OMEA Large Group District and State Adjudicated Events, earning both Excellent and Superior ratings numerous times. The Middle School Combined Choirs have performed at both Music in the Parks at Cedar Point and OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Events and earned Superior ratings there. And The Wauseon Chorale has been able to actively perform at many events in and around the community.
