Sunrise Ridge Intermediate 6th Grade Science
Parents/Students:
Welcome to Sunrise Ridge Intermediate! Science is a fun and interesting subject, and we will be doing a lot of hands-on learning activities that will help students enjoy and experience science. Some of the content we will be learning about includes: the solar system, energy and matter, weather and climate, and ecosystems. Most daily assignments can be completed in class; however, there may be times that students must complete work at home.
Absences: If students are absent they are responsible to make up the work. Lessons will be on Schoology for students to access and complete.
Contact Information: The best way to contact teachers is through school email found on the SRIS webpage, sri.washk12.org
Each student needs to have the following supplies :
1 inch (or 1 ½ inch) 3 ring binder (will be kept in the classroom)
thin pocket folder
lined paper for binder (5-10 sheets)
glue sticks (2-3)
2 pencils, erasers, and small manual sharpener
white board markers (black is preferable)
yellow highlighter
book for silent reading
Notice: The items on this list will be used during the regular school day. They may be brought from home on a voluntary basis. Otherwise, they will be furnished by the school.
Evidence based grading is based purely on your demonstration of learning.
All learning activities will fall under one of 2 categories:
Demonstration of Learning: Assessments, projects, demonstrations, reports, etc. that give a clear picture of your learning.
Practice: is not counted toward your academic grade. You will get feedback from your teacher to help you prepare to later demonstrate your learning.
*Parents are urged to check Powerschool at least once a week.
**All students at Sunrise Ridge Intermediate will be required to complete an end of year final.
In order for everyone in our class to be comfortable and productive, there are a few expectations in our Science 6 class. Science is hands-on, so it is very difficult to make up work if students are absent. It is imperative that the students attend class daily, if possible, and are on time. Absent students need to do the assignments posted on Schoology for each day they are absent. Excessive absences will impact your child’s grade. Discussions and participation are important parts of class. Students are expected to participate in a positive manner that will help enhance the learning environment for all students.
Be Productive Be Prepared Be Polite
Thank you,
Science 6 Team
