This course will work through the NYS standards for grades 7 - 8.
Introduction to Computer Science -emphasize problem solving and encourage students to be active creators rather than passive consumers
Digital Literacy/Citizenship - type using proper keyboarding technique with increased speed and accuracy, communicate on a variety of digital tools, compare and contrast digital tools, describe safe, appropriate, positive, and responsible online behavior, identify strategies to combat negative online behavior
Impacts of Computing - discuss ethics, laws and regulations, accessibility, and issues related to collecting data
Computational Thinking - collect and visualize a data sets, write a program using functions and variables
Network and System Design - identify and fix problems, design a user interface, summarize how data is stored and accessed in a network,
Cybersecurity - determine the types of personal information that needs to be protected, describe physical and digital safeguards and their trade-offs, describe limitations of cryptographic methods
