After complications from contracting COVID-19, Jimmy Horn passed away on September 8 at the age of 90 years, 1 month, and 5 days.
A man of few words, open-hearted, and a proud Navy veteran. His mind was extraordinary when it came to electrical matters and his storage methods.
Jimmy was a Washington State College, a.k.a. WSU, graduate. While attending, he joined a folk dancing group, where he enjoyed the company of friends and met his future wife.
After the children were raised and launched into the real world, Jimmy kept himself active by joining military vehicle and amateur radio clubs.
As a "ham" license operator, Jimmy, KA7GKP, volunteered as communication support for many community events before cell phones were the norm. He supported ESAR, Salmon Days and long-distance bicycle events over the decades, always willing to lend a helping hand when asked.
He enjoyed the hunt for anything he thought he could use for projects and was an avid Boeing surplus attendee and eBay window-shopper.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Monita, KA7ZPM, (Engvall), and sister Eloise (Horn) Huston. He is survived by his sons: Kurt, Kevin (Ramona), and Keith, KA7TOL, (Sara); grandchildren: Danielle, Anders, and Marshal; and great-grandchildren: Owen and Soren.
Jimmy will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery. - Flintoft’s Funerel Home and Crematory, 10/6/2025
