$5 - Pole Rental if needed
$50 - Motor Coach Bus transportation (*we need to fill a 56-passenger bus to reserve)
ALL participants will go through the Snow How program. Experienced skiers will go through the Safety Stations, and the instructor will sign the progress card. From there, the students can exchange the signed progress card for a lift ticket. The beginning skiers will go through all teaching stations and upon completion the instructor will sign the progress card. The card will then be exchanged for a lift ticket and students may then go skiing on the mountain.
Snowboarders: If participants choose to snowboard instead of ski, they may do so for $34.00 lift ticket/rental (if applicable)/lunch. A lesson is not provided for snowboarding but can be booked for semi-private lesson. Snowboards are required by Michigan law to have a snowboard leash and cannot utilize the slopes without one. More Nordic information:
Lessons: Nordic Mountain will provide integrated Terrain Based Learning system which consists of 5 different “features” built out of snow. These features are designed to help students learn in a progressive and safe way. Nordic will staff these learning features for every group at no cost. These features and instructors will be available to every group participant from roughly 4:30-7:30.
Refunds: The fee is based on a group rate; therefore, there will be no refunds for any missed trips besides illness or injury. Injury/Illness: deemed serious enough by a doctor for the participant to exclude from participation. Doctor’s notes will be required.
Lost and Found: If students think they have lost an item at Nordic, the ONLY way to get that item back is to fill out a Lost Item Form at www.nordicmountain.com/lost-and-found
Family and Guests: Immediate family members of WMS and WHS students are welcome to join ski club and enjoy the 4-pack discount at Nordic and Ski Brule group pricing. Students younger than 6th grade require a parent to participate and be present at the hills the entire time. Fill out all waivers for any individual “members” interested in joining. Please sign up and pay using Nordic’s group registration.
Nordic Season Pass Holders - Do you still need to register with forms/waivers?:
If you plan to participate on the Ski Brule - YES!
Nordic Mt. only: We would like to have Medical and Liability forms on file for all Winneconne skiers when we are out at Nordic. Ski patrol always appreciates any medical and emergency contact info. Fingers crossed we don’t need it.
Helmets: A helmet is required for all STUDENTS. Members can rent helmets or provide their own.
Behavior Expectations: Club members are expected to maintain the same conduct code that applies at school while on the slopes. Members are to be respectful to advisors, chaperones, ski patrol, and ski hill employees. Inappropriate conduct (using vulgar language; listening to inappropriate music on wireless speakers; viewing inappropriate content on electronic devices; possessing tobacco, vaping products, drugs and/or alcohol; harassing students and/or chaperones; and inappropriately touching students and/or chaperones) will result in loss of a lift ticket for that night or for the entire season and notification of parent/guardian. Depending on the severity, students might not receive a warning. Violations will result in the loss of skiing/snowboarding privileges, and no money will be refunded. Advisors and chaperones will be present on the hill and in the lodge if anyone has a problem. Members must clean up their trash, keep track of their personal belongings and consider safety in everything they do on a ski hill. This is meant to be a positive and fun activity.
Club Volunteers: The ski club is strictly voluntary so all students and participants must accept responsibility for obeying the rules, ethics and liability for accidents.
Chaperones: We have space for a limited number of chaperones based on the registered participants. Chaperones on each trip will be given a complimentary lift ticket rentals can be coordinated if needed for a fee. Chaperones are encouraged to be on the hill policing group activity. It is very useful to have chaperones help monitor the beginner ski area and boot rental area. Chaperones are expected to assist in the procedures of the trip, must be 18 years of age or older, and must complete the Winneconne School District Background Check. Please contact Heidi Salm in advance if you wish to chaperone.
Common FAQ:
Do I have to be a “member of the ski club:” Membership” means filling out the Google liability forms and agreeing to the behavior expectations to represent the school district well. As a “ski club member” they have access to group trips at group prices.
*Can a 4pack be shared with family members? No, each skier must purchase their own 4pack.
*We can’t commit to all 4 Nordic nights can we still ski? Yes, skiers can buy an individual lift ticket and rentals online or at the ticket counter for any of the ski club nights. This is a great way to ski with friends without the commitment of attending 4 times. We encourage any Winneconne District Students to fill out the liability forms.
*Is there flexibility on dates, can we use the lift ticket on another night? Unfortunately no, dates and times selected by the club will be preloaded on a RFID card that is scanned at the chair lift. It will only work for the preselected times.
*Do parents need to be ON the hill or AT Nordic for non MS/HS sibling skiers? Parents must be present at Nordic during the entire time a younger sibling is present. Parents may watch, and spend time in the lodge, yurt or their vehicle. Note: capacity limits will be restricted in inside spaces.
