Throughout the semester we each developed an issue paper on a current problem in stream habitat management. My topic was "Restoring stream connectivity in Virginia", with emphasis on fixing impassible culverts in nonanadromous streams. The assignment was completed in stages: 1. problem statement; 2. reflective analysis on one key reading; 3. an outline with problem and objective trees and an annotated bibliography; 4. draft for peer review; 5. final issue paper; and 6. reflections on the issue paper assignment.
