Student Requirements and Rules for Athletics
The Catholic School Athletic League (CSAL) and Visitation of Our Lady School policies and responsibilities are stated below. Students and parents must accept these responsibilities and abide by the rules and regulations. Noncompliance may result in student’s removal from the team.
Player Responsibilities
Students are expected to represent Visitation and our mission statement to inspire Catholic faith and principles.
Good sportsmanship is expected at all times. School rules and consequences apply even at after school activities.
Students are responsible for the cost of the uniform shirt/jersey.
VOL PE shorts must be worn for all games. PE shorts can be purchased at Scobel’s or Inka’s. Appropriate non uniform shirts and shorts may be worn for practices.
Participation in after school activities is a privilege. If students have poor conduct grades or discipline problems at school, they will not be able to participate in games and practices.
Detentions are held after school on Thursdays until 4:30. If an athlete receives a detention on a practice or game day, they will not be excused from the detention.
Attendance at school on the day of the event is required to participate in any after school activities.
Students should not ask to call parents to let them know about a game or practice.
Junior games begin at 3:45 p.m. and end at approximately 4:45 p.m. Senior games begin immediately following junior games.
Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from away games.
For away games, only the team with a game start time of 3:45 will be dismissed at 2:45.
Only players and coaches are allowed on the team sideline/bench.
Parents/Spectator Guidelines
Spectators must stay 30 feet from the sideline/bench at all times.
Spectators should bring their own chairs.
Parents, visitors, and spectators should not approach teams during games or practices.
Parents must sign the “Parent’s Code of Ethics 2021” and abide by all policies.
ATHLETIC NEWS
The Visitation athletic program is underway, and we wish all the coaches and players good luck throughout this year in all their games. We will be hosting some home games, and hopefully many of you will be able to join us to cheer our teams to victory. However, we ask that you abide by the following guidelines (handbook page 17) when attending all athletic games.
Students and players must remain in their grade level dismissed over the intercom.
Students should remain in the area of the game. For safety purposes, students should not congregate around the bathrooms or classroom facilities.
Team members as well as parents and spectators must exhibit qualities of good sportsmanship at all times. School rules and consequences apply even at after school games.
Parents as well as student spectators must not talk to the coach or players during the game.
Transportation arrangements need to be made prior to game day. Students are not allowed to use the office phone. For your child's safety, when staying for games at VOL we ask that you pick him/her up by the Gym immediately following the game.
Any student leaving school at the end of the day must return with their parent(s) if they wish to attend the game.
