Course Description: This course is designed to teach students how to successfully communicate within the community by increasing reading, writing, listening and speaking skills for everyday life and work environments.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of this course, students will become more successful as communicators and active community members.
Attendance Policy: Students are expected to attend classes a minimum of two times per week.
Class Procedures: Students should be on Zoom at the instructors appointed time, engaged in assigned work and have all necessary materials including notebook, paper, pen/pencil. Class is student centered learning, teacher led presentations, small group and partner collaboration, and individual work.
Class Format: Students will actively participate during classroom lectures and other learning activities, including oral presentations, group projects, and homework assignments.
Course Materials: This course uses Stand Out and Burlington English. Suggested student supplies include a three-ring binder with dividers, folder, pens and pencils.
Additional Resources: A list of online resources will be provided during computer sessions.
Class Schedule: The daily agenda includes topic lessons from the Stand Out textbook and Burlington English plus supplemental journal or literature activities.
