Philosophy of Physical Education:
Physical Education provides scientifically based opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and attitudes for all students through fundamental movement, rhythmic,, sport and fitness activities. The overall aim is to help students develop lifelong skills that include regular vigorous exercise and sports. Our goal is to assist individuals in assuming responsibility for their own health and well-being through an active life style.

Ohio Department of Education Physical Education Standards:
Standard 1- Demonstrate competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.
Standard 2- Applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance.
Standard 3- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness.
Standard 4- Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others.
Standard 5- Recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self expression and/or social interaction.
Lockers:
1. Each student has the option to have a locker, this will ensure the safety of your personal belongings.
2. Students are responsible to furnish their own locks.
Student Uniform:
1. You must change from your school clothes to physical education clothes and tennis shoes. School dress code applies.
2. |Shirts must have sleeves and shorts must be an appropriate length.
3. If you are wearing tennis shoes you will be required to participate in class that day.
Class attendance:
1. All students, unless presenting an excuse from a doctor or school nurse that has been approved by the school, must take physical education. Notes from parents will be accepted for no more than 2 consecutive days.
2. If a student is medically excused due to injury or illness they must have a note from a doctor to be excused and then a release from the doctor to return to physical activities.
3. Unexcused absences or suspensions will result in zero points for that day(s).
Locker Room and Gym:
1. Students are NOT permitted on stage mats or stage!
2. NO cellphones or any other electronic devices are permitted during class.
3. All equipment must be kept clean and in good condition. Treat the equipment with respect and use it for what it is meant to be used for.
4. Be on time everyday, after 3 tardies you will receive a detention.
5. Each student is allowed 3 minutes to get dressed; if it takes longer you will lose points. Once you are dressed, you will come into the gym and to your assigned area only.
6. Each student will have an assigned position when attendance is taken, during this time we will take attendance, check your uniform, any excuses will be taken.
7. When we warm up and stretch you will also be required to stay in your assigned area.
8. No student will enter the locker room without permission for any reason!
9.There is no food or drink in the gymnasium at any time. Water only.
10. When you are finished getting dressed you are to wait in the gym until the bell rings, not in the locker room hallway or band hallway.
11. No gum or jewelry is permitted during participation. (especially dangling necklaces, long earrings and loose watches)
12. You will respect each other, no name calling or bullying will be tolerated! Act appropriately at all times.
13. At no time are you to go into the equipment room and get out anything without permission.
