I put a sample of what your child's homework should look like at the end of the week in the packet. The assignment is broken up into four nights, but if you want to complete it with your child in one night that is okay. Your child may bring the book back to class when he/she finishes the assignment.

Your responsibility is to dictate the words to your child. Your child then repeats the word back to you and finger spells it. Then your child writes in in the book. Please reinforce the finger spelling! The only words that cannot be finger spelled are the Trick words.

Dictate the sentence and then have your child say the sentence back to you while clapping out each word. Then have him/her write the sentence. Have your child finger spell any words that he/she is having trouble with. Reinforce capitals and periods and good handwriting! We use COPS for checking out sentences (capitals, order, punctuation, spelling).

In the packet are extra activities that you can do with you child, along with the trick words that we will be working on. This packet does not need to be handed back to me, but please keep it because it has next week's homework on it.
