Special ed. teacher

Heather Wortman, Special Education Teacher, joined the Vale School District in August 2017. Prior to Vale, she taught in a small Inpuqiaq village in Alaska for the Bering Strait School District (for five years) and at Ontario High School (for two years). She earned her bachelor's degree from Mount Union College (2010-Ohio) and her master's degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks (2013-Alaska). Her teaching experiences during college took place in Alliance (Ohio), Wadsworth (Ohio), and Bray/ County Wicklow (Ireland). In 2009, she received the National Frank Newman Leadership Award for service. In June 2015, she married Bill Wortman, and they have a little girl named Delaney Jo; they are currently expecting another addition to the family in March 2021.
