Central Heights Viking Baseball Guidelines

Viking Baseball Guidelines 2022

1. Academics- Student/athletes will be of good standing academically in all classes and meet policies set forth by the Board of Education and KSHSAA. If you are receiving two "F's" you will not play. We are STUDENT athletes. If you have a "D" or an "F" you will also attend a study hall in my room every Wednesday and Friday at 7:50 until 8:10. If you miss study hall you will have extra conditioning that night!

2. Behavior- Players will represent their school, team, community, coach, and themselves in good character on and off the field. The following behaviors will not be tolerated:

- Use of tobacco, drugs, or alcohol at anytime.

- Use of foul language.

- Any conduct detrimental to the team. Including negative material on Social Media about teammates, opponents, or any other school issues.

- Questioning of any of the umpires calls. Immediate reprimand will occur!!

3. Appearance- My philosophy is if you look good, you play good. Players will demonstrate their commitment to their team by following these guidelines:

-Keep hair cut off the ears and off the collar. Hair will also need to be of a color that will represent the team well. I will make decisions regarding color and length appropriateness.

-Be clean shaven all of the time. I will warn you and give you a chance to shave, then extra conditioning will be required if not taken care of. If not shaved you WILL NOT play in the games until shaven.

-Your cap will be worn properly at all times, facing forward, and pulled down!

-Wear sweatpants or baseball pants at all practices. NO SHORTS! You need long sleeves until the temperature is 70 degrees.

-Wear a hat to practice every day.

-No jewelry.

4. Equipment- players will show respect for equipment. Throwing of any equipment is not acceptable. Field maintenance will be required of all players at practice and games.

5. Attendance- players will attend every mandatory practice, no exceptions. Always let a coach know if you are going to be gone. If you participate in dual sports you are required to be at practice by 4:30 every day. If dates of participation conflict, you will go with your primary sport chosen at the beginning of the year. Unexcused absences will result in extra conditioning.

6. Disciplinary action- Failure to uphold the above guidelines will result in consequences determined by the coach.

7. Lettering policy- A player will have to play in 1/5 of the varsity games, or innings to letter. The Coach may also letter players in special circumstances or at his discretion. Example-20 games they would need 4 games or 28 innings.

8. Locker Room-There will be locker room duty required of all players. It will be on a rotational basis, and you will be assigned to a team. If the locker room is dirty, there will be consequences.

9.Lockers- You will be assigned a locker. If you do not have a lock, I will provide you with a team one to be returned at the end of the season.

10.Refrigerator- We will have a team refrigerator in the training room equipped with drinks for athletes, along with periodic refreshments. PLEASE do not abuse this privilege!

11. Driving-You can drive over to the locker room. If Coaches see you driving in any unsafe manner coming to the parking lot, leaving, or anytime associated with baseball, you will not be allowed to drive to the locker room.

This sheet must be signed and returned before you will be able to participate in any game. Conditioning will occur if returned after March 21st.
