For those of you who don't know, the MLB is in a lockout. This is when no players can be traded, everything is stopped. No practices, no games, no scrimmages, and no baseball. Today I will be looking at the top trades that happened before the lockout.
Number 1 - Max ScherzerÂ
Max Scherzer is arguably the best pitcher in baseball. He has played for the Nationals and the Dodgers. He has won 3 Cy Young awards and has had 21 strike outs in a game. Right before the lockout he was traded to the New York Mets for two minor leauge players and is sure to be one of the best trades this off-season.
Number 2 - Cory Seager
Corey Seager is a shortstop who was traded to the Texas Rangers for outfielder Kole Calhoun. Seager is a Silver Slugger award winner, and he also won NL Rookie of the Year. He is an amazing hitter with a great glove. His brother Kyle had a great career with Seattle. He wanted to follow in his brother's footsteps and it paid off.
Number 3 - Javier Baez
Javier Baez is one of the best players in the game. He is a shortstop who has won one gold glove and one Silver Slugger. He was traded to the Detroit Tigers for two first round picks. He will be a big addition to this team, as they don't have a true superstar player. But with a middle infield of Baez and Jonathan Scoop, this team has a chance at the playoffs this year.
