Many DWHS students are taking advantage of the opportunity to take HCC classes, both online and in person. Some students have found it hard to learn online, while others find it hard to learn in person. I have taken both online and in-person classes, and I like in-person better.
I like getting to meet new people and having more hands-on experience while learning. While taking an online class, students are hidden behind a screen, and they don't get to meet new people, or experience the joys of being a college student.
Taking an online class can be more convenient than taking an on-campus class, but it can also be more time consuming. If you have a question about an assignment, you may have to wait on the instructor to email you back about how to fix it. Another problem with online classes is the ability to cheat, so you may not learn as much as you would if taking a class on campus.
When taking an on-campus class, students get to ask questions in class and get answers right away instead of waiting on an email from the instructor. Then you get to talk to other students and learn more about what you’re learning about by talking to other people about it. You also get to take notes about what is going on in class other than just looking at the notes that a teacher gives to you online.
Some instructors are really strict about attendance; however, some instructors only care about your activity in the class when you are there. Instructors for both online and in-person classes may not accept late assignments and give you a zero for it, whereas other instructors may let it slide a few times and let you have a good grade on it still.
I personally feel that taking on campus classes are so much easier than taking online classes because you get more help on things that you need help with and you get to have more opportunities with other students as well.
