What is the most challenging thing you have been through with school, during your senior year that has been affected by Covid-19?
Senior Dana Windmeyer: “The most challenging thing this year would probably be wearing masks for hours at a time. Another thing would be being able to participate in any events without the risk of getting quarantined.”
Senior Kinlee Whetstine: “This year the most challenging thing for me is going throughout the day knowing that we could have to cancel school at any time. It stresses me out knowing that my senior year could just go up in the flames at any moment in time.”
Senior Jacob Lackey: “The most challenging thing my senior year so far is Senior Project. It's difficult to work on your senior project at home when you are quarantined.
What are some events that have been affected by the coronavirus?
Windmeyer: “Some events affected have been powderpuff, homecoming dance, winter royalty dance, and junior prom.”
Whetstine: “There’s been a lot of events that have been affected by Covid this year. The first one is homecoming. We weren’t able to have a dance which is really sad and also prom. Usually it’s in April and this year it’s in June just really weird to me.”
Lackey: “Covid affected basketball in my opinion the most by not letting any fans in to watch, enjoy the game, and cheer on their team. I'm glad they ended up changing that rule in January.”
Were you ever quarantined during your senior year? If so, did you have it or were you in close contact with another student?
Windmeyer: “I was quarantined, but only for being in close contact with both family members and another student.”
Whetstine: “I have been quarantined once this year. I was in contact with a student that had it. Honestly, for me quarantine was pretty nice. I got to sleep in and take naps whenever I wanted.”
Lackey: “I have been quarantined 4 different times. I was first in close contact 3 different times, and the fourth time I had Covid.”
What is one thing you wish you could do differently during your senior year that isn’t possible because of Covid-19?
Windmeyer: “Be able to participate in events normally without having to sit six feet apart or without masks. It would have also been nice to sit with friends at the same lunch table.”
Whetstine: “One thing that I wish could be different was lunch. It’s not the same not having the whole high school in the commons. It sucks that I can’t experience a lot of things with the whole high school that I have usually been able to experience.”
Lackey: “One thing I wish we could do differently but we can't because of covid is, not having to wear a mask.”
