As I was waxing my eyebrows, the thought came to my mind about shaving my forehead baby hairs....
Back in the good old sixth grade, I thought it was a good idea to try to shave the baby hairs off my forehead, since they weren't the same length as my other hair. As I carefully tried to shave them, I thought it was going to look a lot better.
Apparently that wasn’t the case.
After I ran the razor across my head, I glanced down at the and saw that there was hair the length of my normal hair. I thought to myself, “No one will notice, right?”
The next day at school a girl in my class, Maelisa Moppin, asked me, “What did you do to your hair?”
“I don’t know, why?” I replied.
“It just looks different on your forehead,” she said.
“I don’t know what I did,” I said, acting clueless.
Since no one else said anything I thought my secret was safe, until that night at the lodge...
Our friends from Georgia, Brandi and Bryan Hickman were up visiting and Brandi happened to say something about it. I again acted clueless at first and I finally tried to explain. I began to tell them that I may have taken a razor to my baby hairs and got a little too close to my real hair. They thought I was pretty dumb.
The conversation went on why I thought it would be a good idea, but I really couldn't tell you why I did it. We then began to think on how to cover it up. Brandi came up with the bright idea of wearing a thick headband. That idea stuck and from then on I wore a thick Nike headband. I wore that thing everyday for about a year and a half. The only thing that I did without one was sleep and shower.
After everyone figured out what I did, they knew why I always wore a headband. Most people made fun of me for it, but I eventually just ignored them.
So there you got it....
I was pretty dumb back then!
P.S. I tried to put a headband back on, and I looked ridiculous. I now don’t own a headband!

As other schools have been shutting down and everyone has been getting quarantined, no one thought that such a little school like DWHS would have Covid- 19 cases.
On October 6, 2020 a 7-12th grade student tested positive for the corona virus. A day later another tested positive. Students that had been in close contact with those individuals also had to quarantine..
DWHS students and staff are taking precautions and wearing masks when not six feet apart, washing and sanitizing hands, cleaning off desks after each class, and maintaining social distancing.
2020 has been a rough year but we are pushing through this pandemic.
