Life with 4 Sisters
by Malaina Whetstine
Ever wonder what goes on in a house with five sisters? Well, as a member of a family like that, I’m here to tell you. Five daughters + one mom + one dad= the house of the Whetstine’s.
For those that don’t know, our ages range from 22 to 13. Lexie (22) is the oldest followed by Tayiah (20), Kinlee (18), Malaina (15), and Emmyjo (13). Some may imagine that life with five sisters is chaotic, but really it’s not.
Starting off with chores. Now that Lexie and Tayiah are out of the house, they kind of have chores easy. The dishwasher chore still stays the same, rotating oldest to youngest. On the other hand, the house cleaning is done by me, Kinlee, and Emmyjo. Each week I make a chore list and assign different chores that we have to do that week. Most times we don’t argue about them, but sometimes we do.
You may wonder about sharing things in a house full of girls. To be honest, most of us just wear our own things. Some exceptions are that Emmy and I shop in Kinlee’s closet. She only gets mad if we don’t ask, so that's most of the time. Shoes are kind of a different story considering we don’t all wear the same size. The only shoes we really share are dressy shoes. We all have our own vehicle besides Emmjo because she doesn’t drive yet. Bathroom sharing isn’t an issue in our house. None of us get ready in the bathroom. We each have a vanity in our room, so the bathroom is for showering, brushing our teeth… and using the bathroom.
Attitudes… well, in my opinion, we girls have pretty good attitudes most of the time. Not all people might think this, but that’s their opinion. Yes, we have our moods but mostly I think they can be alright. Getting along in our family can sometimes be a little struggle but that will happen. Emmyjo, Kinlee, and I get along the most. Tayiah and Lexie, on the other hand, is a different story. They bump heads a lot but in the end they are okay. When Emmy and I were younger, we fought all the time, but we’re better.
There are many other stories I could talk about about a house of six girls, including my mom, but that would be a story that would take forever. I hope you got the idea of what goes on in the Whetstine’s house.
