Do you ever wonder why people drive, walk, or ride the bus to school? The average teenager in high school drives themselves or rides in a car. So here's a few reasons why they drive, walk, or ride the bus to school.
In a January 2020 survey sent out to all DWHS. Of the 34 who responded, 79.4% said that they drive to school, and 20.6% ride the bus to school. Out of the 34 who responded 0% walk to school.
Some of the reasons given as to why they drive to school is because they have a lot of freedom and time to themselves. They said that they can get up at any time and get to school when they wish to.
“Long School Commutes Are Terrible for Kids” said that parents also choose to drive their students to school so they don't have to walk and worry about them crossing streets.
When students ride the bus they say other bus riders are noisy and loud and the little kids are annoying. It sucks to ride the bus but it's free because they do not have to pay for gas. “National Statistics on School Transportation” said that kids should ride the bus more because then there is less traffic with students before and after school.
