The writing consultants, who work in the Writing Center, are USD students from a variety of majors and backgrounds. What they have in common are strong writing skills and a sincere desire to help other writers. Most of them go through several weeks of training before they start working in the Writing Center.
Three former consultants from the USD Writing Center have been published in the fall 2017 issue of The Dangling Modifier, "an international newsletter published by and for peer tutors in writing": Allie Knofczynski for her poem "Anybody Can Edit," Bailey Quanbeck for her article "Beyond the English Language: Using an ESL Writer's Native Language as a Catalyst for Mutual Growth," and Megan Swets for her article "Contentious Content: The Line Between Radical Openness and Sanctioning Disrespect." Readers can find their pieces here: The Dangling Modifier Congratulations, writers!
