We've got work to do!
The VLP hosts a number of exciting activities throughout the school year, including:
Literally Speaking. Whether you’re a planner or performer, get hands-on experience in both by helping with and performing at the VLP’s monthly creative writing reading event.
Annual Short Story Contest. Write under pressure for a cash prize and publication credit! Each year, VLP hosts a short story contest. Contestants are given a word or phrase kept secret until the contest begins; then, they have a paltry three hours to write a story in which the secret “theme” figures prominently. Top winners receive cash prizes, and the first and second place stories are published in the Red Coyote.
The Writer’s Festival. Join us for our annual VLP Writer’s Festival, a full day of workshops and readings with visiting writers. VLP’ers organize and run the festival, and many sign up for the workshops, too!
