Women Poets Collective was founded by Christine Stewart-Nuñez, Professor of English at SD State University. The group of poets meets to critique manuscripts and present readings at least once each year. In 2023, they met and read their work in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
The WPC has also met in Brookings, Sioux Falls and Mitchell and has read at the SD Art Museum, Methodist Church and Mosaic Wine Bar in Brookings, at Siouxland Library, Zandbroz and the SD Public Broadcasting Studio in Sioux Falls, at Dakota Wesleyan Univ. in Mitchell, SD, and at South Dakota Book Festivals in Deadwood and Brookings, SD.
