Field Trip: Death Valley National Park & Mojave National Preserve

Spring Break 2018, 2014, 2011, 2008

About this course: We will spend a week in the Mojave Desert of California and observe spectacular geology exposed in both Death Valley and the Mojave National Preserve that includes tectonic and volcanic features, salt features, sand dunes, ancient lakes, alluvial fans and abandoned mines. Weather is usually comfortable for early to mid-March, and we will camp most nights. We will do mostly short hikes each day.

Students are required to research a field trip stop and discuss the geology with the group.

Students can participate in the field trip for one or two credits- please ask me about the requirements for each.
