Christine Toh

I am currently a faculty member in the School of Interdisciplinary Informatics in the College of Information Science and Technology at the University of Nebraska Omaha. I completed all my degrees at the Pennsylvania State University, earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, M.S. in Industrial Engineering, and PhD in Industrial Engineering. I also minored in Psychology during my undergraduate years.

My current research interests lie in understanding the changing landscape of design, and how information technology is increasing the volume, velocity, and variety of information available during the design process. Specifically, my research focuses on investigating how designers navigate this complex environment of conflicting needs, requirements, and innovation trajectories, and the impact of next generation tools on the success of design outcomes and creativity of design projects.

When I am not doing research, I enjoy exploring the great outdoors-- on foot or on two wheels -- with my fleshy and furry family members. I also dabble in art using traditional media and graphic design, and am an amateur digital music composer. My combination of technical and artistic skills provide me with an edge in my research and teaching, and allow me to apply my skills in exciting and unique ways.
