· November 2005 to 2011: Lecturer at pathology department/Sulaimani College of Medicine/University of Sulaimani, after I transferred from Ministry of Health in Baghdad to Ministry of Higher Education& Scientific Research /Sulaimani after two years spent at the Directorate of Teaching Laboratory of Medical City/ Baghdad as specialist haematopathologist which is one of the main centers for diagnosing haematological disorders in Iraq.
My specialty work Experience
· July 2018-till now Specialist haematopathologist at Shorsh Teaching Hospital, Immunohistochemistry department for the diagnosis of variable disorders in haemato-oncology.
· Oct 2011- Now: Establishing the Flow Cytometry department for leukemia and lymphoma Immunophenotyping in Sulaimani Public Health Lab, which is the first qualified center in Sulaimani and we served patients from different parts of Kurdistan and Iraq.
· 2008- 2016: Establishing a collaborative team with Tehran genetic center for performing chorionic villous sampling for thalassemia major and intermedia characterization and encouraging at risk couples to attend the screening program. The molecular work for at risk couples was performed at our clinic, but the CVS procedure was performed in Tehran. From 2016 and on, Sulaimani Thalassemia Center is responsible for CVS and molecular work-up of at risk couple. Our clinic continued with the screen work-up only.
· Sept 2006- June2022: Head of haematology department in Sulaimani Premarital Screen Clinic as primary step in thalassemia prevention in Sulaimani which is the first and the only professional premarital screen centers in Sulaimani /Iraq and one of few functioning premarital screening clinic in whole Iraq.
· Dec 2005-June2022 physician in charge of haematology department –Sulaimani Public Health Lab
· November 22nd 2005 I started a new job in Kurdistan province –Iraq, Sulaimani city, starting as lecturer at Sulaimani College of Medicine –University of Sulaimani-Iraq.

· Sept 1997- Oct 1999 House Officer –2-year period internship including: Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology and subspecialty branches at the following sequence;
My diagnostic responsibilities as a consultant haematopathologist as shown below in Sulaimani-Kurdistan province-Iraq
1- Independent reporting of peripheral blood smears, BMA and BMB in a wide variety of benign and malignant haematological disorders.
2- Independent reporting of immunophenotyping results for haematological disorders using IHC and flow cytometry.
3- Regarding flow cytometry immunophenotyping, we perform diagnosis of leukemia/lymphoma, ALL MRD, PNH diagnosis and follow up. Types of specimens include peripheral blood, BMA, FNA with other body fluids and spleen and LN biopsy.
4- Running counselling clinics for thalassemia and haemoglobinopathies and involved in HPLC and capillary electrophoresis results interpretations for the couples attending the regional premarital screen clinic( afternoon clinic ) together with other ancillary tests.
5- Also I have a good experience in the diagnosis and follow-up of inherited and acquired coagulation and platelet disorders.
6- A limited experience in LN biopsy (H &E) interpretation.
7- Also I am involved in teaching undergraduates at Sulaimani College of Medicine and post-graduate haematology trainees, including clinical supervision, help in thesis writing, and researches publishing in peer reviewed journals .Some of my published work is from my own projects .
Interests and achievement
· I have a big interest in molecular genetics research, in particular thalassemia molecular characterization, and I had published researches in peer reviewed international journals regarding the molecular characterization of thalassemia.
· Considering the fact that leukemia and lymphoma had evidently increased among Iraqi population due to different risk factors, including the long wars we had faced throughout history, and this had increased my interest in working on immunophenotyping of leukemia and lymphoma among adults and children in Sulaimani Province and compare the results with neighboring countries and developed countries
· I have been enrolled in an academic staff training program (Cagliari University-Italy) in relevance to molecular genetics of thalassemia and premarital screen programs to improve my skills in this field and try to implement the molecular diagnostic tests through the pathology curriculum of the undergraduate students.

Active attendance of virtual international webinars, workshops, and conferences relevant to haematopathology.
Attending many training courses and workshops inside and outside Iraq (Turkey, Amman, Dubai, Germany, UK, Italy ….) regarding the new and advanced techniques in hematopathology and molecular hematology (HPLC in thalassemia diagnosis, molecular diagnostic techniques, immunophenotyping of leukemia lymphoma and thalassemia).
Active attendance of seminars of pathology department & seminars of Sulaimani School of medicine.
Awarded a grant from the EU for exchange programme at University of Cagliari-Italy 2016. The course was one month training at premarital training center.
Short clinical attachment in Hammersmith hospital as clinical observer in pathology department for 45 days, summer 2014 at the haematopathology department headed by Professor Kikkeri Naresh at that time.
