Research Interests

Rozhgar 's research interest includes the following fields;

1. Abstract

This research focuses on the possibility of using Iraqi Kurdistan Clays in producing monoclonal Ceramic hence the subject of the research is limited on finding appropriate models of Clay in Iraqi Kurdistan specially which have been configured and utilized with in the limits of the research in order to apply them in the production of ceramics .

The research is based on four chapters , the first chapter is about the general frame of the research, it consists of the problem , the significance, the goals, the limits of the research as well as the terminology . The problem of the research focuses on different mechanisms which can be found in the following items :-

1- Despite the irong of each stage or era، according to the swinging missing between ritualism and professionality and through aesthetics in the art of modernity and thereafter, there remained what has been achieved in the qualities of technical construction, specially the objectivity of clay and glass properties physically and chemically as technical and applicable mechanisms .

2- This mechanism might correspond to the methods of modulation and its types which depend on the diversity b of the methods، no matter whether these applications were large pieces of sculpture, or murals or classic pots, they are inevitable and obligatory in the mechanism of current implementation.

3- Getting into the depth of formulation requires experimentation and comparing the results to the current studiend and previously activated formuli according to what is customary and cognitive in the professional asset for these experiments. The significance of the study is summed up as :- The act of experimentation enables the artist modify his Knowledge according to the results and away from spontaneity, and this is achieved by the ability of control , artistically، aesthetically and technically of his production. In order to communicate the Knowledge, this research shads light on different sites of Iraqi Kurdistan and the possibility of employing its material (Clay) in the ceramics industry and from the same area. This research is considered one of the pioneers in the field of ceramic composition especially in Kurdistan region، moreover, it enriches Kurdistan libraries as they lack such studies. The main goals of the research Foucused on

1- Finding appropriate types of Clay used in the ceramic industry (pottery) in differents sites of Kurdistan .

2- Evaluating these types of Clay via studying their physical characteristics and their mineral and chemical components.

3- Trying to find solutions to the ironies by using these types of Clay in pottery.

4- Working out these Clay to find out how far they can accept glaze .

The Limit of the study includes, spatial limit concerning Iraqi Kurdistan Clay and time limit include the period from 2011-2012 it meets the needs of the researcher. The second chapter is devoted to the theoretical framework, it includes the following titles :-

1- Introduction : History of ceramic in Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan.

2- Types of clay and their specification .

3- Glaze materials

4- Glaze Body Reaction

5- Correspondence of the pottery and glass (Interactions & problems) The third chapter is devoted to the procedures of the research .

It includes the physical , chemical and mineral tests of the Clay as well as baking them in temperature ranging from 850-1050 c the soaking time 30c ْ /1hr. d Chapter four is devoted to display the research result, conclusions، recommendations and suggestions according to the findings of the research depending on what has been presented in the second chapter and what results the third chapter produced, this can be summed up as follows:- 1- The results of the size distribution of the raw materials show that there is marked contrast between the dispersed and the coarse dispersed. 2- Atterbreg limits distribute for the samples and fall into three different Clips which ar :- Clay and Silt Low plasticity Clay Low plasticity Silt and Organic Clay Low plasticity . 3- According to color, all the samples of the present study have been divided into three groups (D1, D3, D4, and D5) which are characterized by their red and dark brown colours . The second group consists of samples number (D14, D15) which are characterized by their yellowish brown soil colour . The third group consists of samples (D1.D2.D3.D4.D5.D6.D7.D8.D9.D10.D11.D12.D13) which make the colour of the soil, range between light red to light brown to yellow . 4- The chemical test showed a group of oxides with different proportions according to the sites of the study , e SiO2- Al2O3- Fe2O3- MgO- CaO- Na2O- K2O- SO3- some of these Oxides are considered the main components of pottery . 5- Mineralogical Analysis using X-ray differaction of the unoriented and(Smears) oriented samples show presenting of Clay and non Clay mineral . 6- According to the linear shrinkage after burning the Samples showed that the linear shrinkage increases with the increasing of burning temperature. 7- The apparent porosity increase with increasing burning temperature. 8- The bulk density of all the burnt samples in 850ْc is rang between (0.85-2-16) and in 950ْc is (0.89-2.92) and in 1050ْc is (1.34-2.10) ْc. 9- The experimented Clay samples have been applied in composing Artistic works with the diversity of composing methods to include Ceramic Sculpture, electrically shapes alexandrite pendant murals. 10- the results of numerous models of glaze through the approved glaze components showed agreement between lead formula and alkaline formula. 11- Finally, after identifying some models, the Clay have been assessed to produced Ceramic works which showed that the chosen Samples are appropriate with the Ceramic shapes in terms of pottery or glass.
