My Philosophy in Teaching
The important aspect of teaching and learning is creating a classroom culture that is conducive for learning. I acknowledge that their peers directly influence students’ self-confidence in class and that is why establishing a supportive environment is so important. Self-confidence is a crucial part of learning the course. If students do not feel comfortable in learning and practicing it, obtaining skills and information become merely impossible.
There is more to teaching than teaching the content. My teaching experience has taught me that I am more than an instructor, I am a teacher, period. I am teaching students that learning can be rigorous and fun. I am establishing good habits and teaching them life skills, like therapeutic communication and how to deal with critical situations. I am equipping them with the knowledge and skills they will need as members of their society. I am teaching them to believe in themselves and to strive for personal and communal success. And I am teaching them the value of the course, in English. I am empowering students by giving them partial access to the cultures of different perspectives and inspiring them to want to learn more.
