Outline Biography

My name is Dr. Diary Ali, an assistant professor, and I’m currently working as Vice Dean of the College of Science at the University of Sulaimani since 2018. I have 19 years of experience working in the field of water resources (hydrogeology) teaching water resources, hydrology, hydrogeology, research methodology, hydrochemistry, water wells, and groundwater modeling courses, and conducting research. I joined the Department of Geology at the College of Science as a demonstrator in 1997, and I was awarded  M.Sc. and Ph.D. in, 2002 and 2008 from the University of Baghdad in the field of water resources (hydrogeology). I have twenty-seven published papers, and I supervised ten M.Sc. students inside Iraq and outside of Iraq like Germany, Netherlands, and Hungary. I am an active member of several national and international societies like the International Association of hydrogeologist (IAH), World Commission on Protected Areas, Iraqi Geological Society, Iraqi Water Resources Society, Kurdistan Academic Society, and Kurdistan Geologists Society. I  enjoy reading, and the knowledge and perspective that my reading gives me have strengthened my teaching skills and presentation abilities. I participated in many conferences, workshops, and training courses inside and outside of Iraq. I have good computer skills and work with many geological software like MODFLOW, ROCKWORK, SURFER, AQUIFERTEST, PHREEQC, and STATISTICA. I speak Kurdish, Arabic, and English languages.
