At College of Engineering , Department of Architecture I teach the Courses below:

1. Architecture Design - 2nd stage (2017-2018)

2. Building Materials - 1st stage (2017-2018)

3. Building construction - 3rd stage (2017-2018)

1. Building Materials

This subject is selected to be given to first stage students in the architectural department, and it provides an introductory overview of the various materials used in construction. After receiving an introduction into fundamental principles of structural, physical and long-term performance, students learn about material and product manufacturing techniques and how they relate to mechanical and non-mechanical properties of the various materials. Common construction methods are introduced and building details are explored.

This course will be given through a series of theoretical lectures. Followings are the main covered topics:

1. Types of Structural Systems

2. Stone, stone masonry

3. Soil and soil components, Brick masonry

4. Concrete

5. Concrete blocks

6. Wood and timber

7. Glass

2. Architecture Design

This subject is one of the most important subjects that must be taken. The student will be taught how can they create, build a new design and how to sculpt a special mass. In addition , how to express concepts and Idea within an attractive form.

This Module is supervised by Ahmed Qadir Ahmed and the rest of the staff are :

Hendren Hamid

3. Building Construction II

This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of building construction and detailing. The course involves practice on a weekly base. The practical section is concerned with conducting architectural working drawings. A complete set of a project’s working drawing is the primary requirement for the course as it teaches students the principle skills for the start of their professional life. Course materials focus on elaborate details of parts of a small building such as foundations, walls, floors, roofs, stairs and finishes.

The difference from the previous year’s module is that the current module will focus on constructions made with concrete & steel structures. Students are expected to draw in 1:20 and 1:10 scales, which are required for demonstrating a sufficient understanding of the covered materials.

This Module is supervised by Ari Nihad Abtar and Chro Abdullah
