Academic Profile

I completed my BA in English Language and Literature with Distinction at Slemani University in 2009. Right after graduation, I won a scholarship to do an ESL degree at the prestigious British Columbia University in the beautiful city of Vancouver in Canada. Understandably, nothing much happened after that until I found myself by sheer chance at the University of Sydney, in Australia some 2 years later in 2012, only to discover that I was pretty good at doing MA in English with some components in Cultural Studies, thereby I worked closely with Mark Mordue, a distinguished Australian writer and critic as well as Robert Dixon, an Emeritus Professor of Australian Literature.

I have taught in several universities in Sulaymaniyah, namely UHD, Komar, Charmo, Polytechnics, etc. I joined the Department of International Relations, the University Slemani in 2019. Currently, I am teaching English to the freshmen. My research areas circle around English Literature, Climate Change, Media, and Moral Panics.
