My Philosophy in Teaching

I believe that learner-oriented teaching promotes learning that is both purposeful and enduring. In the context of psychiatric nursing and psychology, it is my responsibility to understand who my learners are, what kinds of knowledge and experience they bring to the group, and what they aspire to achieve. This understanding enables me to tailor a curriculum that fits their needs while leaving room for topics that emerge from group discovery.

By assessing where my learners are in relation to our mutual learning goals, I can provide the scaffolding they need to build connections between their existing knowledge and the new understandings they seek to create. I embrace case-based teaching and other active learning activities because they stimulate intellectual camaraderie, argumentation, and cooperative problem-solving. These methods lay the groundwork for lifelong collaborative practice, which is essential in the fields of psychiatric nursing and psychology.

My goal is to foster an environment where students feel supported and challenged, enabling them to become compassionate, knowledgeable, and effective professionals in their future careers.
