My Philosophy in Teaching
I began my career as a teacher at the College of Medicine-University of Basrah in 1995 when I obtained the degree of Fellowship of IBMS in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. Since that time, I believed that the mission of any teaching doctor is threefold: teaching, research work, and medical service to patients. I believe that our commitment is to give all our time and effort to our undergraduate and postgraduate students. Teaching is an art that can be mastered only by those who love it and see its reflection in the eyes of students. I always struggled to do my best to satisfy my job and do my best to transfer my experience to my students. Moreover, research is the natural product of any academic person especially clinicians. This was translated into 79 papers published in Iraqi, Arabic, and International journals; many were considered original besides one thesis and one book. I am proud that I was promoted to Assistant professor just 3 years after my enrollment in teaching and then into a Professor 6 years later (in 2004). I continue my struggle to deliver all my life experiences to my students. I ask God to give me the strength to serve my School of Medicine and the Iraqi Board and Kurdish Board in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and my country in general.
