Stefano

Stefano is a graduate of Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza” and he received his Ph.D. in 2000 with a dissertation on “Supramolecular Catalysts for Amide and Ester Cleavage” under the supervision of Prof. Luigi Mandolini. After a period in the pharmaceutical industry (Merck Sharp & Dohme), he came back to the same University where he obtained a permanent position in 2007, firstly as a Resercher and then as a Professor. He is currently Full Professor of Organic Chemistry. He is also an associate researcher of the CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche).

During his academic career he has spent research periods in the laboratories of Prof. Javier de Mendoza, at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (2000) and of Prof. Ulrich Lüning at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Germany (2002). His research work has been presented in many national and international conferences through oral communications and invited lectures. He has been involved in many national and international scientific collaborations with important and estimed researchers: Prof. G. Ercolani (Tor Vergata), Profs. A. Casnati and L. Baldini (Parma), Prof. B. Meijer (Eindhoven), Prof. C. Hunter (Cambridge), Prof. M. Costas (Girona), Prof. D. Leigh (Manchester), Prof. A. Walther (Mainz), Prof. Max von Delius (Ulm). In 2020 he was the recipient of the national prize for "Chimica Organica nei suoi Aspetti Metodologici" which is assigned by the Italian Chemical Society to the research in the field of Physical Organic Chemistry.
