Scientific Expertise
His scientific expertise comprises spectroscopic techniques, as Spectrofluorimetry e Mass Spectroscopy, electroanalytical techniques, sampling and solid phase microextraction, and chromatographic techniques, as GC and HPLC. His research fields of interest are: spectroscopic and electrochemical characterisation of innovative materials; development of biosensors and their application in the “in-vitro” and “in-vivo” monitoring of food and biological fluids; fabrication of chemically modified electrodes employed as detectors in liquid chromatography for the detection of food interest compounds; analysis of volatile components by GC-MS coupled with purge and trap and SPME samplers; development of new separation analytical methodologies in HPLC with electrochemical detection, for the determination of phytohormones, pesticides and antinutritional factors; development of new sample cleanup methods for analyses by GC and HPLC of xenobiotics in foodstuffs; Proteomics by nano-LC/ESI/IT/MS/MSn and MALDI/TOF.
Current research interests:
- Development of innovative analytical methods for quality control and traceability of foodstuffs;
- Development of innovative analytical methods for the monitoring of xenobiotics;
- Development, optimization and application of amperometric biosensors;
- Structural and functional proteomics by HPLC-MS hyphenated techniques.
