Our Structural and Computational Mechanics Group has developed advanced analytical and computational models for:

• • Discontinuities and interfaces through the regularized extended finite element method.

  • Nonlocal elasticity applied to CNTs.

  • Crack tracking and continuous-discontinuous transition.

  • Nonlocal damage models.

  • Multi-surface damage-plasticity model for wood.

  • Extended Virtual Element Method.

  • Mechanobiology of cell-ECM interaction.

  • Multirisk analysis of combined territorial hazards.

Since 2019, we are studying how to devise effective methodologies for evaluating multi-risk in civil engineering applications in the framework of the PMO-GATE Interreg project https://www.italy-croatia.eu/web/pmo-gate (1.400 000 grant), where we are the team leader.

Since 2020, the group is involved in the PRIN research INTEGRATED MECHANOBIOLOGY APPROACHES FOR A PRECISE MEDICINE IN CANCER TREATMENT  led by Prof. Nicola Pugno. Our role is to develop computational and structural models for modelling the interaction between cells and extracellular matrix.

• Computational mechanics of fractured timber beams

• Combined seismic -flood risk in civil engineering
