The Associated Schools of Facility Management supports the advancement of FM education through curriculum development, collaborative research, and industry partnership.
The purpose of ASFM is to build a network of FM educators who:
- Promote consistent and thorough FM education by sharing program best practices for FM courses
- Create a shared repository of curriculum, course design, and textbooks
- Sustain the knowledge base and research endeavors of the FM industry
- Improve the quality and increase the quantity of FM research by serving as a resource for academic expectations and facilitating collaboration among educators on research projects.
- Provide tenure support for early-career academic professionals.
- Promote student engagement with industry through student competitions, career fairs, information sessions, etc. to develop internship and job opportunities.
- Develop scholarships and endowments to support programs and students.
- Work with accrediting bodies in the development of criteria, collection of statistics and program data, and promoting practitioner relations for research collaboration, program input, etc.
