We are hiring a postdoctoral researcher!
The Twine Research Group (http://z.umn.edu/twine) in the Department of Soil, Water, and Climate at the University of Minnesota has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral researcher. The successful candidate will work to advance scientific understanding of the changing climate of northern mid-latitude regions and its impacts on a variety of natural and managed ecosystems (e.g., urban regions, forests, croplands) as well as sectors such as public health, recreation, and natural resources. Opportunities exist to advance training in analysis of large datasets and their applications through departmental and Minnesota Supercomputing Institute resources, engagement with university and college level post-doctoral scholar communities, and affiliation with the University of Minnesota Climate Adaptation Partnership (MCAP; http://climate.umn.edu).
The position is annually renewable contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, or related discipline.
Experience analyzing large climate datasets
Technical knowledge of global and/or regional climate models
Effective critical thinking skills
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
Expertise in Python, R, or similar programming skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical knowledge of land-atmosphere interactions
Experience with land surface modeling
Experience presenting results to a range of audiences
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Ability to work with all internal levels within a given organization

The Twine Group consists of Researchers, Post-doctoral Students, Graduate Students, and Undergraduate Students. We use scientific instrumentation and high-end computing to measure, simulate, and analyze aspects of the land and atmosphere.
