Wednesday afternoon will be free, so we invite you to come on a river cruise or explore the area on your own. Details of the river cruise, as well as some ideas for exploration are listed below.

Mississippi River Cruise aboard the Minneapolis Queen

125 Tickets will be Available between 8:30-10:30am on a first-come-first-serve basis,

on the Morning of Wednesday, July 13

The boat ride is courtesy of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Hermes Luh Endowment.

Unfortunately the boat takes only 125 people, hence there is limited availability.

Boat ride is at 2:00 – 3:30 PM

Your narrated cruise will take you along the southern route of the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway and Heritage Trail system, along the University of Minnesota Campus riverfront, under the stunning 35W Bridge, through the lower St. Anthony Falls Lock system showcasing views of the St. Anthony Falls, the historic Stone Arch Bridge, amazing river bluffs with views of the amazing downtown Minneapolis skyline as we show you the best Mississippi River has to offer!

Minnehaha Falls

Explore Minnehaha Falls and the Surrounding Park

Two Chartered Bus trips to the park will be provided, courtesy of ECE dept and Hermes Luh chair.

The bus (Yellow school bus) will depart from Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs Circle,

located at 1813 3rd Street South, Minneapolis, at 2pm and 4pm on Wednesday July 13th.

Return is scheduled for 6:30, 7:15 and 8pm. Bus capacity: 50 passengers

In the event there are more passengers, the bus will make return trips.

Alternatively, one may take the train (see below).

- Take the Green Line towards Downtown Minneapolis for one stop

- At US Bank Stadium, Transfer to a Blue Line Train towards Mall of America

- Exit at 50th Street / Minnehaha Park Station

- Take the Green Line towards Downtown Minneapolis for one stop

- At US Bank Stadium, Transfer to a Blue Line Train towards Mall of America

- Exit at Mall of America Station

Chain of Lakes

Take a walk or cycle around the chain of lakes. There is food at the Fish Tin Restaurant next to Lake Calhoun, and a large number of options in the nearby neighborhood of Uptown.

- On Hennepin Avenue, Take Southbound 6D bus

- Exit at Hennepin Avenue and Lagoon Avenue
