Minnesota Justice Foundation
Student Chapter
at the University of Minnesota
The Minnesota Justice Foundation creates opportunities for law students to engage in public interest and pro bono legal services, connecting them with attorneys and the community.
The MJF Student Chapter at the University of Minnesota provides programming to:
foster a spirit of commitment to pro bono legal work;
support public interest legal career development; and
continually educate the student body about social and environmental justice issues and how law students and lawyers can have an impact.

Each year, the MJF Student Chapter provides Public Interest Clerkship (PIC) Grants to students engaged in public interest legal work over the summer. PIC Grants are funded by contributions from students, staff, and faculty of the law school, and other supporters, through fundraisers organized throughout the year. A full-time proposal receives a grant of $6,000 for 350 hours of work over the summer. The application process is open to all UMN Law students in the spring for the opportunity to create and implement their own public interest legal project. The PIC Grant program is completely organized and managed by UMN law students.
To apply for a PIC Grant, please see the PIC page here.
