What is the Grasshopper General Index ?

The Grasshopper General Index is a directory of Grasshopper’s component categories. You will find descriptions [in basic terms] of the different groups of components Grasshopper uses, and brief explanations of specific components that may not be familiar to the new Grasshopper user.

You may access the index in two ways. Below the components are arranged by the categorical toolbars in which they appear in Grasshopper. At the bottom of this page you will find the 'Index' link, which gives you access to an alphabetized list of all the components and links to where to find them within the Index.

How is the Index meant to be used?

The index is meant to be a time saving resource. Especially for newer Grasshopper users, the index can speed up the process of determining how to execute a desired outcome with Grasshopper. It is recommended that new users take the time to ‘play around' with Grasshopper’s many functions to learn the program better, but when time is short it can be helpful to have a quick explanation as to what a component does and how to use it.
