My name is Wang Yu (Chinese:王瑜, Pronunciation: "Wong Yuk") and I am now a post-doctoral researcher in
Dr. Jun Li's lab in Department of Human Genetics, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I received my Ph.D. degree in Dr. Chung-I Wu's lab from 2007 to 2012, in the center of Evolutionary Cancer Genome at Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Then worked as a research fellow in Dr. Chung-I Wu's lab for the next two years. I started my research career in BGI (Shenzhen) as a visiting student, supervised by Dr. Guojie Zhang and Dr. Jun Wang in 2008. I have broad interest in Human Genetics, Rat Genetics, Cancer Genomics, Population Genetics, and System Biology.
I use comprehensive approaches, especially genomic tools, to study micro-evolution issues in cancer cells, including dynamics of tumor cell evolution, tumor growing pattern and mutation rate in this process. The study of intrinsic attribute of cancer cells not only provide genetic basis of cancer, but also expand the framework of evolutionary theory in cellular level. Right now, I adopt transdisciplinary tools to study aerobic issue with rat model, including microarray, genome sequencing genotyping and massive behavior study, aiming to provide a better understanding the genetic of aerobic capacity and an excellent mode for therapy of human metabolic disease.
